The only time you run out of Chances is when you Stop trying.
I just finish reading an inspiring article on how a couple cleared their 6 figures debt in 4 plus years. There are a number of valuable lessons which we can all learn from and apply to life in general.
1) All of us makes incorrect judgement/decision from time to time, be it financial, health or otherwise. What is crucial is to face it, take action and overcome it with determination and preferably a sound bite-size action plan.
2) Acquiring wealth is analogous to finding the treasure in the middle of a maze (refer to the top left hand maze with $ in the middle). All of us start from a starting point, some path will lead to a dead end (e.g. debt), some will take a long route and some will simply reach the treasure via the shortest path. What is important, however is that if we simply keep moving and try different path, eventually (hopefully) we can eliminate those undesirable path and move towards and ultimately unearth the hidden treasure.
A simple tip and shortcut is to tap the experience of people who have gone through many paths and have eventually succeeded in finding their treasure. Though the couple in the article manage to get out of 6 figures debt, imagine for a moment, what if the couple is debt free from the start and in 4 plus years accumulate savings of $125,000 instead. How would that impact their life and retirement? I believe the 2nd scenario is preferred by most.
Perhaps it is human nature, we typically will not plan well ahead in time unless situation forces us to do so. The same analogy can apply to all aspects of our life, be it health, relationship, education etc. We will reflect and perhaps take action when we fall sick, or when someone close moves on, or when we fail to meet the cutoff for our desired course. Rather than having regrets in life, let us all strive to be more proactive and take small positive steps towards writing a beautiful life story for the future generation. :)
The original article of the couple getting out of 6 figures debt can be accessed from

What do you do when you are faced with a six-figure debt — mostly because of credit cards? No cable television and no eating out, obviously. And that’s just for starters.
